Out of Fashion

This is what happens when you mix fashion, photography, journalism and young talent.

Out of Fashion is a publication and exhibition project by three young photographers, Siru Kivistö, Eeva Rinne & Ida Taavitsainen, who share an interest in fashion as a form of art, craft and communication. The purpose of the project is to showcase the final work of the three recent photography graduates. They all intend to investigate fashion and the fashion system as something more than just a superficial act of consuming. Each of them approaches the subject from a different point of view. Questions about identity, memory and portrayal of women are raised, as well as discussion about the ethics of over consumption of fashion and its consequences on our lives and on the environment. The magazine includes a variety of texts from writers that the group has chosen from both fashion and art worlds. From analytical arcticles to short stories and an interview with the iconic British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes, the texts bring a more indepth and thought provoking viewpoint to the subject.”

Don’t miss the exhibtion at Myymälä2. Luckily there’s an Out of Fashion magazine, too. You can buy it at Napa.
